MTV Moves Up VMA’s For Obama’s DNC Speech

MTV has moved up the start time of the Video Music Awards so fans of the show can still catch President Obama accept his parties nomination.

The show will run from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. Eastern time. The president is scheduled to speak from the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, N.C., after 10 p.m.

The video awards are a considerable draw for young viewers and usually run around Labor Day. MTV often uses the awards show to introduce new programming in the hour afterward but will not do so this year.

Frank Ocean To Perform at the 2012 MTV Video Music Awards

Frank Ocean joins the lineup of performers at this years MTV VMA’s in Los Angeles.

Ocean’s debut album Channel Orange has sold 262,000 copies in the US, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

Amongst Frank Ocean will be performances by Rihanna, Taylor Swift, One Direction, Green Day, Pink & Alicia Keys.

The 2012 Video Music Awards hosted by Kevin Hart will air Thursday, September 6th at 8 p.m. ET/PT on MTV.

The 2012 MTV Video Music Awards nominations are here! Leading those nominations are Rihanna & Drake, both scoring 5 Nominations this year.

Coming up after them are Katy Perry, who earned four nods, while Jay-Z and Kanye West, Beyoncé, Coldplay, M.I.A. and Frank Ocean all are nominated for three.
